The day dawned crisp and clear. The moment I opened my sleepy eyes and saw the fine weather, I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to go jogging.
In an hour, I had changed and gulped down a cup of hot milk to give me the energy boost. I walked down to the park and got ready to jog. I took a deep breath and began jogging.
After jogging for an hour, I stopped for a rest at the park bench. I bought an energy drink and had not gotten ahny further than the first sip when a faint, distant crying was heard from a bush. My curiosity mounting, I parted the bush to reveal the silhoutte of a small girl, who was sobbing miserably. Peplexed, I walked to her and asked why was she crying so profusely.
The girl pointed to a body of a woman nearby.Fear strangled my throat. I gasped when I saw how horribly mutilated an incapitated she was. Deep gashes had been made with a knife across her limbs, and the mortal wound was a slash across her throat.
I gathered my wits and turned round to face the young girl. However, she had mysteriously disappeared into the shadows of the bushes. I called the police at once. I could not do anything but cover the woman's face, which was twisted into a pained expression of agony in respect.
The policemen dutifully came and carried the woman's body away. One of the policemen came and interviewed me. "It's a real pity," he said. "The woman's daughter only died a month ago." He took out a photograph. "This was her daughter." All the color drained from my face. I staggered back and began a full sprint back home.
When I reached home, I told my mother all about it. My mother disbelieved me, thinking I was only being ridiculous. She still refused to believe me and said that i was cooking cock and bull tales.
The next day, the incident that I witnessed yesterday came out in the newspaper. Without hesitation, I ran as fast as my legs could carry me and i showed it to my mother. She was traumatized and stood rooted to the ground for a moment. The newspaper that she was holding fell onto the ground. Finally, she believed me.
Till today, I still remember this particular and unforgettable incident vividly. So did my mother. Whenever I think of it, I feel a tingling sensation in my mind.

The sun shone mercilessily down on Earth. The vast blue sky was filled with fluffy white clouds. The breeze sang a soothing lullaby. Erik did his morning routine and went to the park as usual.
Within ten minutes, he arrived at his destination as it was a stone throw away from his house. Upon reaching, exuberance bubbled in his heart. The trees swayed from side to side and the flowers whispered to each other. The park was bustling with activities. Some of the people were cycling on the cycling path, while the others were jogging. Out of the blue, he heard a sound coming out from a bush which shocked me. Aghast thoughts rushed through his head. He was in a predicament. He pondered what he was going to do next. Soon, curiosity got the better of him. He tip-toed forward and peeked through the bushes. It was an abandoned baby in a basket with a snake! It only took him a few seconds to regconize the snake as it had striking colours. He stood rooted to the ground with his eyes and mouth widely opened. Thousands of thoughts fashed through Erik's mind.
Soon, he regained his composure, traumatized with fear, he took a few steps back. He fished out his phone silently and called the animal control.
After ten minutes, the animal control arrived. Erik's heart skipped a beat and a tingling sensation ran down his spine as a man with a net approached him. Beads of perspiration rolled his forehead and cheeks. After telling him what he saw, the man rushed toward the bushed. His face turned as pale as a sheet. People from the park quickly crowded around the bush. After a few minutes, the crowd got even bigger. The man warily and quickly used the net and caught the snake. Erik heaved a sigh of relief.
After a few minutes, the man left with the snake, leaving the baby behind. Soon, the crowd dispersed. Erik took the basket with the baby and brought it to the nearby police station. Upon reaching, he saw an anxious women pacing up and down. He hurriedly approached the woman and asked if the baby was her's. She nodded her head and thanked him profusely. She told Erik that a man with dyed hair snatched the basket from her while she was in the park and threatened her for money as she called the police, the man quickly ran away with
the baby.
Then, he realized that it was already noon. He ran home immediately and thought about what happened that day.

I was on my daily jog. Everything was going as routine when I heard a girl crying. I peered behind the bush and saw a girl that could not be older than three years old. She was clutching her knee and sobbing. There was a wound on her leg.
Beads of perspiration ran down my forehead as I pondered on my choices. I could bring the girl to the hospiital, or I could feign ignorance and go away. There were several people congregating around the girl, but they adopted the "Bystander's Theory" and just stood rooted to the ground, doing nothing. The wound was beeding profusely as I pulled out my handphone and dialled for an ambulance. A shrill scream pierced the morning air as a new spasm of pain ran down the girl's leg.
A chill ran down my spine. I decided to make a tourniquet for the girl. I found a piece of cloth on the ground and tied it around the girl's thighs.
A few minutes later, the ambulance arrived. I helped the girl onto the stretcher. I was indesicive on what to do next. I decided to go with the girl in the end, in case they needed information.
When we arrived at the hospital, the nurses pushed her to a ward. A doctor came to me and asked,"How did she get injured?" A thousand possibilities raced through my mind. I had no idea as well. "It appears that she has fractured her kneecap." I was spellbound. That was she screamed so loudly.
I could not help but feel sorry for her.

I set off at 6.30am, taking a full ten minutes to get in my jogging equipment. The dark blue sky had purple tinges staining the edges of the vast horizon, slowly creeping, consuming the darkness. The air was cool and crisp, dew dripping from the trees at my height, and towering over me. As I increased my pace, I stepped off the pavement and onto the damp grass, sweet dew coating my shoes, a few drops condensing on my shin, mingling with my sweat. My shoes hit the pavement once again.
As I resumed my pace, fresh air filled my lungs, rejuvenating me entirely. Gone were all traces of drowsiness and I thought I felt my muscles screaming, I greatly treasured this refreshing moment. As I was jogging in a jovial mood throughout the entire jog if something would not have got the better of my mind.
I heard someone sobbing pitifully behind the bushes. As I was curious, I went over to take a peek and saw a pitiful girl wailing. In then squeezed myself through the bushes to have a better sight and was shocked to see her bruised arms. "My god!" I almost blurted out. For a moment, i was speechless by the unfathomable sight. "Why would there be a girl here?" She had evidently been battered savagely, and her hair was dishevelled, looking like something out of one of those poverty-genre films, those with orphaned girls living in a cardboard box.
"You... you okay?" I asked tentatively. She lifted her head, revealing those huge, sorrowful eyes which were blackened around them. One cheek was red and swollen. More than that- it revealed the insignia of her primary school, a school in the neighbourhood, not far from the park. So she was wearing a school uniform- I had not noticed before. "Can you stand?"
I must have been something like those nice-looking kidnappers in the TV shows, so she seemed unsure if she should trust me. I held out my hand. She hesitated, then took it. I pulled her up. Her grip ironically strong for the small, weak hands and thin arms. She nodded her thanks, but remained wary. "What happened to you?" I looked away, a little awkward even though time was not the moment. "Who... who are you?"
She answered, but it was weak and as thin as her arms. "Shannon." She looked distraught all of a sudden, as if she could not believe she had just revealed that precious shard of information. "You need to head for the cops?" Seeing the distraught expression turn to fear, I quickly corrected myself." "The police station! The police station!"
Shannon was suspicious, afraid. I did not blame her. So me stood there, waiting for something to come break the air of fear and suspicion.

The sky was a delightful expanse of azure blue. I was jogging around the park in high spirits, experiencing the beauty of Mother Nature. Enjoying the scenery of the fluffy clouds, smelling the aroma of the flowers, hearing someone sobbing. That was not nature, I looked around with my ears pricked up, trying to listen where the source of the sobbing was coming from. Suddenly, in the corner of my eye, I spotted a gargantuan bush shaking wildly. Curiosity got the better of me, so I peeped into the bush and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.....
"Stop! What do you think you are doing?" I exclaimed, just in time to stop a pretty teenage girl from slitting her wrists with a penknife. She dropped the penknife with a startle and turned her head ninety degrees towards me. She got up like a bullet from her crossed leg posture and bolted deeper into the park. I darted towards her to give chase. I thought to myself "Wow, she's a fast runner. I am impressed! But now was not the time to compliment on her speed. I got to track her down before she harms herself! Anyway, I am a police officer." We were already deep in the forest. i got to catch her before we went deeper into the park. With one big step, I pounced on her to stop her from running. I grabbed her by her skinny arm and we toppled onto the ground. She fought hard to break free from my death grip. Then, she stopped struggling. " Give up? Okay, tell me why did you want to do that stupid thing just now. Step by step." I acclaimed. I loosened my grip and allowed her to sit on a wooden log near us.
She took in a deep breathe and released it. She took in a heavy sigh and started her story. I stopped her before she told her story. " Why are those bruises everywhere on your body?" I asked, my tension getting higher and adrenaline rushing faster by the seconds. She did not query and started her story. " My mother was nearing divorce with my father and my mother began to fall sick. It was a serious illness and she died shortly after. My father then started gambling and also a heavy drunkard. He started abusing me everyday and this is how I got my bruises and cuts. I became stressed, so i decided to ran away from home. Finally, I got into this situation- killing myself," she finished with a pitiful tone. A feel of sympathy lingered around me. Anxiety coursed through my veins. My mind was boggling about what I can do to help her. " I think I should adopt you. I live alone and wish for someone to accompany me. If you do not agree, I can send you to an orphanage." I said. After cracking her brain, the girl accepted my invitation of adopting her. " My name is Erin, I am thirteen," she introduced. I welcomed her and also introduced myself.
From then on, i sent her to school, bought her clothes, accessories and many others. I promised to her that i would take care of her until the end of my life. Now, I do not feel as lonely as the previous tine, as there is someone to entertain me to fill my empty heart.
